What’s up with the name? I’ll get right to it. After Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, I launched Bloomin’ Pissed with pro-choice t-shirts designed with my original watercolor and acrylic paintings, which are inspired by Northern California’s Napa Valley. Currently, 13 states have made it illegal for women to make their own decisions about family planning and health care and another 12 states have laws that are considered hostile toward women’s right to choose.

While these issues worsen, this work reminds me that the simple pleasures we take for granted one day may very well be gone the next. Here I express the duality of life—both beauty and bullshit—and by doing so, I end up with a surplus of joy.
